Accusing People Falsely and Cursing Them
David prayed Psalm 109 as a plea for God’s judgment
against the people who had accused him falsely for he said, Do not keep silent O God because wicked
and deceitful people have opened their mouths against me. They have spoken with lying tongues,
surrounded me with words of hatred and fought against me without a cause. (Psalm
109:1-3)
David therefore continues crying out to God by
saying, Since they loved cursing, let
them come to him. Since they did not like blessing, let them be far from him.
Since
they covered themselves with cursing like a garment, let them enter his body like
water and like oil into his bones …
Let this be the Lord’s reward for my
accusers and those who speak evil against me. (Psalm 109:17-20)
Therefore do not accuse people falsely or curse them. |
