Disobeying God

Deuteronomy 28: 15-68 warns us that if You do not obey God and keep His commandments you shall suffer from many curses.

You will suffer from curses in your food since Your kneading bowl shall be cursed.

Your children shall be cursed since The fruit of your body shall be cursed.

You will be suffer from curses of diseases since The Lord will strike you with consumption, fever, inflammation, fever, with the sword, scorching and mildew until you perish … The Lord will strike you with the boils of Egypt, tumors, the scab and itch which cannot be healed. The Lord will strike you with madness, blindness and confusion.

You shall suffer from curses wherever you go because You will be cursed in the city and cursed in the country … You shall be cursed when you come in and cursed when you go out.

You will suffer from curses in your work since Your basket shall be cursed … You will be cursed in all you set out your hand to do.

Your products shall be cursed since The produce of your ground shall be cursed.

Your investments shall be cursed since The increase of your flocks shall be cursed.

You will suffer from curses of unproductivity since The heavens over you with be bronze and the earth under you iron … You shall carry many seeds to the field but gather a little because the locusts shall consume them. You shall plant vineyards and tend them but you shall not gather the grapes or drink their wine because the locusts shall eat them. You shall have olive trees in your land but you shall not anoint yourself with oil because the olives shall drop off.

You will suffer from curses of setbacks since You will be defeated by the enemies who rise against you. You shall betroth a wife but another man shall marry her. You shall build a house but you shall not live in it. You shall plant a vineyard but you shall not eat the grapes. Your ox shall be slaughtered in your presence but you shall not eat it. Your donkey shall be taken and it shall not be restored. Your sheep shall be given to your enemies and you shall not rescue them. Your children will be given to other people. Other people will eat the fruits of your labor … You shall get sons and daughters but they shall not be yours because they shall be taken into captivity.

You will suffer from curses of poverty since You shall not prosper and you shall only be oppressed and plundered continually and no one will save you.

Jeremiah also reiterates the importance of obeying God to avoid curses for he says,Cursed is the person who does not hear the words of the covenant that I commanded your forefathers when I brought them from Egypt. (Jeremiah 11:1-5)

Therefore do your level best to obey all the commandments of God.
